Traffic is flowing again on two major Alaska highways after avalanches forced their closures. The Seward Highway south of Anchorage was reopened Tuesday afternoon after slides came down a few miles apart earlier in the day near Girdwood. A 60-mile stretch of the highway was closed. An avalanche on Monday forced transportation officials to close the Richardson Highway leading into Valdez. The state also reopened that highway Tuesday after removing snow from the roadway.
